What Are You Afraid Of?

What’s holding you back?

It’s summer! This means camping trips, backyard BBQ’s, and the opportunity to make some big changes to better yours and your family’s future. But, there is always something holding you back. There’s a nagging little voice in the back of your mind that is telling you why you can’t do it, why you shouldn’t do it. Over the next few weeks I am going to focus on these reasons and give you some ammunition to help quiet that little voice once and for all!

Reason #2: Fear

In my first post of “What’s holding you back?” I discussed competition and how some use this as a reason to avoid pursuing an opportunity. In today’s post I’m going to address the second reason – fear.

Fear can be a great motivator or it can be a great detractor. You get to choose which direction you let fear take you. The most successful fearpeople are those that have stared fear in the face, laughed at it, and conquered it. They are the ones who have bravely pushed it aside and traversed on.

This doesn’t mean they weren’t fearful, on the contrary. I’m sure they would be the first to tell you fear is very real. There is the fear of the unknown. The fear of the “what-ifs”. The fear of failure. And yes, even the fear of success. It is a matter of their choosing to let it propel them into success.

When starting a new business there are a lot of unknowns and there are plenty of areas for fear to creep in. However, when choosing to start a franchise business a lot of the unknowns are removed as you are investing in a proven system with a support team in tow. The “what-ifs” have been answered by those that have gone before you and all scenarios have a carefully crafted plan.  The fear of failure or success, however, doesn’t come with an operations manual. This is where you have to look fear in the eyes and decide, will you conquer it or will it conquer you?
